Beating for sustainable development

This is the name of the emulation implemented by the CTC in Ciego de Avila to promote investment in photovoltaic solar parks.

The Central de Trabajadores de Cuba (CTC) implemented an emulation with the slogan Latir por un Desarrollo Sostenible (Beat for a Sustainable Development) in Ciego de Avila, with the aim of promoting investments in Photovoltaic Solar Parks.

At the meeting with trade union leaders from the 10 municipalities of Avila, Yuniel Espinosa Reyes, member of the Provincial Secretariat of the workers’ organisation, said that the task guided by its national leadership, aims to stimulate the best individual and collective performances in productivity, efficiency, quality, optimal use of resources and other tasks that promote relevant economic and productive results.

He explained that this type of work has the highest priority because it is a matter of national security, with a view to promoting the change of the country’s energy matrix, for which the Ciego Norte park is being built in the community of Grego, near the provincial capital, an activity evaluated in progress, executed by members of the Civil Defence, Energy and Mines and Construction Workers’ Unions.

It was learned that another site is being built near the La Cuba agricultural company, one of the largest production centres in the nation.

Both facilities are designed to provide 21.87 megawatts each, a higher capacity than those currently operating in the towns of Ceballos, Chambas, Venezuela and Morón.

Roberto Pérez García, also a member of the CTC Secretariat in the Avila territory, informed that every week, outstanding workers and brigades will be selected, who will be stimulated in the monthly emulation check.

Sulema Véliz Pina, the highest trade union representative of the energy and mining sector, suggested highlighting the leading role, through life stories in the media, of the men who have made outstanding contributions since the installation of this type of clean energy technology began in the province.

The most creative and accurate emulation will always be that which we develop on the ground, in the workplace, Yuniel Espinosa Reyes stressed at the meeting of the Provincial Secretariat of the CTC in Ciego de Avila. Photo: José Luis Martínez Alejo
