With an enrolment of 200 students, the Ñola Sahig Sainz Elementary Art School is set to begin the 2026-2027 academic period. For the upcoming 1 September, art education in Ciego de Ávila will see 19 new admissions in the Dance speciality and 26 in Music; the rest of the students correspond to continuing studies.

Among the main priorities for this school year are political-ideological work with students, permanent links with artistic references to enrich the territory’s cultural projection, and attention to graduates.

These days, actions are being carried out to guarantee the quality and preparation of the teaching staff through methodological workshops, while teachers plan their classes with the available teaching resources.

Likewise, cleaning and maintenance tasks are being carried out in classrooms and surrounding areas, with the aim of having the centre look its best on opening day.

The challenge for this new academic year is to encourage research projects that address issues in the local environment, in order to raise the quality of students’ training — future representatives of Avilanian culture — always in line with the guidelines of the National Centre for Art Schools.
