Activities developed in homage to the Peasant Congress in Arms

In homage to the 67th Anniversary of the holding of the First Peasant Congress in Arms, in the Avilanian municipality of Morón a broad plan of productive and social activities is being developed.

The members of the National Association of Small Farmers, ANAP, in the Morón territory are emphasising the impetus to productive commitments in tasks such as land preparation for bean planting, the harvest and processing of oilseed plants and the cultural attentions to fruit trees.

Also the co-operativists of the municipality are working on the planting of hardy crops like cassava, plantain, sweet potato and Malanga, fostering vegetable and produce areas and driving the fulfilment of the milk delivery plan.

Other actions in homage to the date are the painting of billboards and historic sites, talks with founders of the ANAP and the environmental enhancement of the communities where the co-operatives are located.

The First Peasant Congress in Arms was held on 21st September 1958 in Soledad de Mayari, former Oriente province, was attended by Raúl Castro and set out goals and demands of the inhabitants of rural zones. (Author: Yhosvany Jimenez Hdez)
