The Plenary Session of the Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba in Ciego de Avila approved the political endorsement of the strategy for the development of Public Health, which aims to mitigate the shortages and limitations of the current international socio-economic context, aggravated by the intensification of the criminal imperial blockade against Cuba.

The strategy emphasises the leading role of the Party, the UJC and the Trade Union, to reverse the deficiencies with resilience and creativity, in order to solve difficulties such as the lack of medicines in the pharmacy network and the deterioration of community hygiene, among the demands most frequently made by the population.

The Plenary Session of the Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba in Ciego de Avila also evaluated the economic results of the province at the end of 2023 and during the first quarter of this year, including the situation of exports.

Julio Heriberto Gómez Casanova, Secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba in Ciego de Ávila, insisted on focusing the analyses on the actions to be undertaken to resolve the difficulties in state enterprises, with emphasis on the commerce and gastronomy sector, the most deteriorated in terms of services to the population and income to the economy.

Such analyses will make it possible to correct distortions and give new impetus to the economy, one of the strategic objectives of the Party’s plenary evaluation report, in order to contribute with its political actions to reduce the budget deficit and increase economic and productive efficiency in key sectors such as the sugar agro-industry and food production for the people.
