A leader in congress

Elected among the first direct delegates to the conclave of the Cuban workers and trade union movement.

Paulino Pérez Viera from Avila is one of the first direct delegates in the country with a reserved seat for the final sessions of the 22nd Congress of the Cuban Workers’ Central in April 2025.

He is the leader of a business organisation with relevant results, not only as a protagonist of economic, productive, trade union and social events, but also as a guide who turns human values into strength for the workers of the Empresa de Materiales de Construcción (Avilmat), in Ciego de Ávila.

The new merit awarded to the general director of the company, whose National Vanguard collective is nominated for the 2024 Quality Award and for a decoration or honorary title, at the request of the Construction Union, is no coincidence either.

Its greatest virtues are of reference in being one of the first centres in the construction sector to complete a children’s house for the care of workers’ children, to develop the areas of food production in all its basic business units and to strengthen the payment systems, creditors of one of the highest salaries today with a monthly average per worker of almost 20,000 pesos.

Dividends all these and other fruits derived from the consecration, such as the decrease in the coefficient of administrative expenses; and the growth in the production of goods and services, productivity, net sales and profits of more than 32 million pesos.

He leads the work of the political movement Abrazando el Barrio. He has also been involved in the following activities: attending to constituencies; construction maintenance activities in several wards of the provincial hospital and health clinics; setting up roundabouts at the access to the capital of Avila and placing giant banners on buildings, such as those of the flags of the homeland and Mijaín López, among other actions for which the CTC has awarded him multiple recognitions.

«I am going to represent you with dignity at the meeting of Cuban workers…», said the law graduate to his fellow workers, who has a relevant 27-year career in the system of People’s Power and the status of outstanding cadre in the Ministry of Construction, among other achievements.

The award was presented by Misael Rodríguez Llanes, general secretary of the National Union of Construction Workers. Photo: José Luis Martínez Alejo
