Playa Pilar, the attractive beach resort located in Cayo Guillermo, north of Ciego de Avila, was recognized with one of the Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best 2024 awards, granted by the well-known travel platform Tripadvisor.

The Avila enclave occupied the eleventh position among the 25 best beaches in the world, based on its definition as a quiet place «with turquoise blue waters, fine white sand and stunning views», options to enjoy the sun and snorkeling in the shallow and warm sea.

The peculiar characteristics of the enclave also earned it the number 4 spot among the 25 best beaches in the Caribbean, a selection based on the comments and opinions left by Tripadvisor users during the last 12 months, which includes only 10 percent of the establishments listed on the website.

Among the natural values of Playa Pilar are the sand dunes, considered the highest in the Caribbean and one of the oldest in the region, which have the category of Protected Area.
