Joven Club: More Than Three Decades at the Service of Society

With 39 years of experience and sustained work in fulfilling their lines of activity, the Joven Club de Computación y Electrónica in Ciego de Ávila are consolidating itself as a key institution for the community.

The 28 existing facilities in the province keep their social activities active with popular participation, educational programmes and alliances with other entities, all aimed at meeting the needs of children, adolescents, young people and the elderly.

The Avilanian Joven Club offer licences and antivirus software in different categories, with alternative options in line with the country’s current economic context. For this purpose, they use personal telephones and computers as tools that support the bankingisation process and digital literacy, through courses in electronics, PowerPoint and social media.

Darisleixy Garachana, provincial deputy director of the entity, explained that daily a large number of people are attended to who request services linked to QR code, Enzona and Transfermóvil, in addition to providing advice on the use of these digital systems.

She specified that the «La mochila» service remains active, available free of charge to all those interested. Added to this is care for people with disabilities, the elderly, maternity homes, workplaces and other entities.

The director stated that, recently, the possibility of applying for a passport online for those over 18 was published on the government website, who must create an account that can be facilitated by the Joven Club.

She clarified that, in line with the energy situation in each municipality, there are different opening hours to serve the public, always with specialised staff. The purpose — she stressed — is to continue training citizens and fostering alliances with third parties, to continue being «the Cuban family’s computer.»
