The Avilanian municipality of Morón will be represented at the CONCACAF Women’s Under-17 World Cup qualifiers with the presence of a coach and four players in the Cuban national team.
The tournament will be held shortly in Nicaragua. The sportswomen are already on Nicaraguan soil and played their first preparatory match, where they fell to the local team with a scoreline of 1-0.
The summoned Morón athletes are María Eduarda Márquez Díaz, Nataly Vanessa García Pantoja, Grechy Albuerne Pérez and Jenny Pérez Gross. They are joined by coach Daniela Machado Monzón, who forms part of the technical staff led by Silvio Pedro Miñoso.
In the qualifying phase, Cuba will be in Group E alongside the teams from the Virgin Islands, Anguilla, Grenada and Costa Rica. To advance to the next round, the team needs to win its group or secure the best position among the runners-up.
