Members of the Southern African Young Diplomats Association (SYAD) today rejected the United States blockade against Cuba during a visit to the Caribbean nation’s Embassy in Zimbabwe.
The students, who are also studying International Relations and Law, attended a presentation on Cuba’s foreign policy and general aspects of the island’s history, delivered by Ambassador Susellys Pérez Mesa and Second Secretary Zailin Gaulhiac Moráguez.
The Head of the diplomatic mission expanded on the consequences of Washington’s hostile policy towards the Antillean state and the tightening of the financial, economic, and commercial siege, especially in recent years.
Pérez Mesa recalled the recent presentation by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez, of the annual report on the effects of these unilateral coercive measures ahead of the upcoming vote in the United Nations General Assembly—for the thirty-third time—on the resolution demanding the lifting of the blockade.
The SYAD youth showed interest in learning about the text of the resolution approved at the UN by almost the entire International Community in 2024, as well as its legal meaning, political scope, and the process leading to the vote.
Attendees exchanged views on bilateral relations with Zimbabwe and Africa, while learning about the key messages of the Revolutionary Government’s Declaration «Urgently Preventing an Aggression Against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela,» in line with the principles of Cuban diplomacy.
