The right-hander from Quivicán comes from having an excellent year with his team Mayabeque in the National Series, with the Kitchener Panthers in the Canadian League, and with Las Tunas in the qualifying phase of this Elite League.

In the semifinal playoff, he worked 11.1 chapters for the Matanzas, only accepted three clean scores, and showed an average of batters batted in per inning (WHIP) of only 1.15, which caught the attention of his rivals.
