The General Secretary of the Communist Party and President of Vietnam, To Lam, will carry out a programme of activities in the Cuban capital from today, in the context of his state visit to this Caribbean nation.
The Vietnamese leader arrived the day before at José Martí International Airport in the capital, where he was received by the Secretary of Organisation of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), Roberto Morales.
During his stay, until 27 September, he will hold official talks with the first secretary of the Communist Party and president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, and will exchange views with other authorities.
According to the planned agenda, To Lam will pay tribute in Havana to the independence hero Ho Chi Minh, and will participate in an act of Cuba-Vietnam solidarity, among other activities.
Before his trip to Cuba, Lam held a meeting with Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez, in the framework of the inauguration of the High-Level Segment of the United Nations General Debate.
On that occasion, the Cuban Foreign Minister wished the Asian leader a fruitful state visit to the largest island of the Antilles, in days which, he said, would contribute to continue strengthening the solid ties of brotherhood between the communist parties, governments and peoples of the two nations.
The two countries maintain historic relations, based on comprehensive cooperation, mutual trust and brotherhood.
