The Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) of Venezuela began the process of expertise of the electoral material requested to settle the dispute filed by the citizen and President Nicolas Maduro, it was reported today in Caracas.

The president of the Venezuelan Supreme Court of Justice, Caryslia Beatriz Rodríguez, announced this last night after the head of the National Electoral Council (CNE) Elvis Amoroso submitted the documents and annexes requested by the Electoral Chamber of the country’s highest judicial body.

Rodríguez pointed out that it was recorded that «all the documents requested by the CNE had been received, in compliance with the court order».

The Supreme Court requested the minutes of the scrutiny of the polling stations at the national level; the final tally of the election process and the awarding and proclamation of the aforementioned process.

It also requested the evidence related to the reported cyber-attack against the Electoral Power’s computer system, which prevented the timely transmission of the electoral results, «as it is a public, notorious and communicative fact».

It also asked the highest electoral body for «all the evidence associated with this event».

The head of the TSJ explained that the process will have a 15-day extension period, for which she will make use of «all the mechanisms available in the legal system for this purpose».

In this sense, she proceeded to consign «all the electoral instruments in the possession of the political parties and candidates», which she cited in «intuitu personae», that is to say, they cannot be substituted or delegated to any other person.

In this respect, he announced that a timetable would be drawn up for them to attend with the required information and to answer the questions put to them by the court.

The Electoral Chamber ordered the summons of the aforementioned citizens and warned that «failure to appear…will entail the consequences foreseen in our current legal system».

The process will begin tomorrow, Wednesday, with the summons to the political parties and movements that formed part of the Plataforma Unitaria Democrática and its candidate Edmundo González, followed by the rest.

Representatives of the United Socialist Party and the Great Patriotic Pole, as well as President Nicolás Maduro, are expected to attend the Supreme Court on Friday.

Last Friday, in a public and oral hearing, the court asked all candidates, political parties, CNE and other parties involved in the 28 July process for «all relevant legal documents that may be required».
