During control operations on public roads in Ciego de Ávila, National Revolutionary Police (PNR) forces detected a vehicle whose fuel showed characteristics suggesting the use of an unauthorised substance.

During an inspection in the municipality of Venezuela, the officers retained the vehicle and took the driver to the PNR station in that locality, where investigations are underway.

According to information provided by the authorities, a mixture was found in the fuel tank whose composition must be determined through the corresponding technical expert report. The procedure will make it possible to establish whether it is indeed dielectric oil used as fuel and to determine the circumstances in which it was used.

The action forms part of the control actions carried out systematically on the roads and streets of the province, aimed at detecting offences and conduct that could affect road safety, as well as the improper use of resources destined for other purposes.

The authorities reiterated the importance of the population contributing to confronting these practices and reporting to the relevant bodies any information related to the extraction, commercialisation or illicit use of fuels and other energy resources.

While investigations continue and the results of the expert report are awaited, the National Revolutionary Police maintains controls on the territory’s roads as part of the actions aimed at preserving legality, security and the protection of the country’s resources.
