The US Coast Guard today returned 43 people to Cuba who had taken part in two illegal departures, the Ministry of the Interior (Minint) reported.
According to the source, the 34 men, seven women and two minors returned this day through the port of Orozco, Bahía Honda, in the province of Artemisa (west), left by sea and were intercepted.
Two of these people were transferred to the investigative body for allegedly committing criminal acts before leaving the country.
This return brings the total number of returns from countries in the region to 90 in 2024, with 1,312 irregular migrants.
The Cuban authorities remain firm in their commitment to safe and orderly migration, while reiterating the danger and life-threatening conditions posed by illegal departures and the irresponsible involvement of minors in such acts, the Ministry of the Interior said.
