The Provincial Committee of the Cuban Workers’ Federation (CTC) in Ciego de Ávila carried out a comprehensive review of the work carried out during 2025, a period marked by significant challenges and achievements in various areas. In this context, crucial issues directly impacting the working and social lives of workers were evaluated.
One of the highlighted points was the political assessment of the «Ciego en 26» initiative, which sought to strengthen the political awareness and organisation of workers. The results obtained reflected significant progress in mobilisation and the active participation of members, contributing to a more cohesive working environment committed to the principles of the Revolution.
Regarding unionisation, an increase in the affiliation of workers to trade unions was reported, demonstrating a growing interest on their part in defending their rights and improving their working conditions. This increase has been accompanied by training efforts: workshops and courses were implemented that allowed workers to acquire new skills and knowledge, essential for facing the challenges of the current working environment.
Consultation on the draft of the new Labour Code was another relevant topic discussed by the plenary. Discussion spaces were created that allowed workers’ opinions and concerns to be gathered, ensuring their voices are heard in the formulation of regulations governing their working lives.
From an economic point of view, the Committee evaluated the results achieved during the year, highlighting both achievements and areas requiring attention. Strategies were identified to improve productivity and optimise income, with the aim of ensuring greater wellbeing for all workers.
Additionally, issues related to crime, corruption and illegalities were addressed, topics that severely affect the working and social environment. The Committee reaffirmed its commitment to labour justice, promoting a culture of transparency and ethics among workers and their leaders.
The ideological battle was also a central focus of the evaluation, with emphasis on the responsible use of social media as a tool to disseminate truthful information and encourage constructive debate.
Finally, the plenary members approved the work projections for 2026, establishing clear objectives and concrete strategies to continue advancing the defence of workers’ rights, as well as promoting the economic and social development of Ciego de Ávila.
This review not only reflects the work carried out during 2025, but also lays the foundations for facing the challenges ahead, always with the firm commitment to building a better future for all Cuban workers.
