The tribute activities for May 29, Tobacco Worker’s Day, began in the province of Ciego de Ávila, where every year homage is paid to Lázaro Peña González, this time on the occasion of the 112th anniversary of the birth of the captain of the Cuban working class.
According to the program carried out by the Provincial Bureau of the Union of Agricultural, Forestry and Tobacco Workers, the commemoration will begin in the next few hours at the twisted tobacco factory located in the capital of Ciego de Ávila, with more than six decades of tradition productivity and achievements in union operation.
In addition to promoting the economic plans in the Base Business Units, the most outstanding workers and groups will be recognized for their integral results last year and the Carlos Baliño distinction will be awarded to men and women with a relevant career path for more than 20 years dedicated to the work awarded with the quality mark of being the best in the Cuban tobacco world.
The celebrations during this month foresee the materialization of a group of actions, such as exhibitions, special morning meetings, sanitization days and meetings with founders in the workplaces of the tobacco sector, among other achievements.
