The conviction that supporting Cuba means desiring a planet where peace and justice reign was reaffirmed today by participants in the «Anti-Imperialist Tribune: Solidarity Cannot Be Blocked» forum of the 1st International Colloquium «Fidel: Legacy and Future».
In the presence of Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and President of the Republic, the plenary hall of the Havana Convention Palace became the epicentre of solidarity.
US activist Gloria La Riva, coordinator of the Hatuey Project, noted that the essence of this organisation is to help the largest island of the Antilles in every possible way and stressed that in the current circumstances efforts must be redoubled to confront, together with Cuba, all the arrows sent by imperialism.
She highlighted that at times when the tightening of the blockade attempts to hinder aid to the Caribbean nation, the world must resist hegemonic plans and raise the banners of solidarity and socialism, as Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz always did.
Nguyen Viet Tao, vice-president of the Cuba-Vietnam Friendship Association, declared that Washington’s policy towards the Island is the genocide of the 21st century, whose fascist principles attempt to undermine human dignity.
He called on the Cuban people never to surrender to the strong onslaughts of the White House and urged nations to fight for Cuba, because its cause is everyone’s.
Zoan Tanis Dávila Roldan, from the Juan Rius Rivera Brigade of Puerto Rico and a militant of the Colectiva Feminista en Construcción, stressed that she and her comrades came to Cuba defying the interests of the US government and with the conviction that what they are doing against Cuba is a brutal war.
She stated that those who design the constant imperial measures against the Cuban nation know very well what they are doing and they intend to strangle a dignified people who get up every day to fight despite daily difficulties.
Friends from Europe, Africa, Asia and Latin America raised their voices against imperialism and any action that threatens the sovereignty of peoples, while recalling Fidel as the light that illuminated the path of peace.
Noemí Rabasa Fernández, First Vice-President of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, assured that in line with the Commander-in-Chief’s teachings, the largest of the Americas will not abandon its humanist principles and social justice.
She also thanked the presence of so many friends who these days have not only expressed their support for the country but have also reflected through debate on the extensive work of the historic leader of the Revolution.
The forum called for continuing solidarity actions during the 30th Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government to be held in Madrid in November, as well as in other international spaces.
Present at the meeting were Politburo members Roberto Morales Ojeda, Organisation Secretary of the PCC; Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs; and Teresa Amarelle Boué, General Secretary of the Federation of Cuban Women.
Also in attendance were other leaders of the Party, the State, the Government and mass organisations.
