The event, with the theme Lights for Palestine, was convened via social media by the organisation Health Workers for Gaza and will bring together representatives from the sector who, at 21:00 local time, will illuminate the façades of health centres with various light sources and read a statement condemning the crimes of Tel Aviv.

The call specifies that the acts will begin with the collective reading of the names of the doctors, nurses, and other members of the health staff, who died in the Strip under Israeli bombs while providing assistance to the population, indicates a report published on the digital site of the newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore.

It is about «a massacre that continues systematically», and the «attempt to eliminate a people,» point out the organisers of this demonstration in their call, who urge the Italian government to «act with the sense of urgency and exceptionality that this ongoing genocide demands,» adds the source. This initiative is part of the mobilisations taking place this Thursday throughout Italy to protest against the attacks by Israeli forces on the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF).

As part of the spontaneous demonstrations in support of the activists aboard the GSF, a march took place in Rome, with the participation of some 10 thousand people, which set off from the central Piazza dei Cinquecento to the Palazzo Chigi, the seat of government, highlights a report from the newspaper Avvenire.

In the southern city of Naples, activists in defence of the Palestinian cause occupied the platforms of the Central Station, while, in Milan, the capital of the northern region of Lombardy, hundreds of people gathered in the Piazza della Scala, and in Turin the protesters occupied the Palazzo Nuovo.

The protests extend to Florence, Genoa, Perugia, Siena, and Pescara, as well as to Pisa, where hundreds of people interrupted rail traffic chanting slogans in favour of the Palestinian people, while in Livorno actions were carried out in the port of that town, which paralysed its operations.

The Faculty of Political Science of La Sapienza University, in Rome, and other institutes in various Italian cities were occupied by students, who chanted that «we are the land crew of the flotilla, ready to support our comrades at sea with protests,» indicates the source.

On the other hand, the Italian General Confederation of Labour (CGIL), the Rank-and-File Trade Union (USB), and other important trade unions in this country announced a national general strike that will take place next Friday.
