The IV edition of the student event The Model United Nations, Mundávila 2025, started this Thursday in Ciego de Ávila, with the presence of the Master of Science Lisandra Astiasarán Arias, specialist of the Cuban Association of the United Nations (ACNU).
A cocktail party at the Ranchón «La Trocha» welcomed the 85 delegates and guests from the various universities in the country, who will develop a broad programme under the theme «Facing challenges in the 21st century: sustainable and resilient future».
The central words of the meeting were delivered by Kevin Marcos Delgado Álvarez, Secretary General of Mundávila 2025, who said that each resolution proposed and idea shared are steps towards a deeper understanding of the challenges we face as humanity.
On the first day, UNHCR staff member Astiasarán Arias gave the lecture: United Nations and Multilateralism: Advances, Challenges and Unfulfilled Promises 80 Years after the United Nations.
Until Monday, April 7, the student academic event, which simulates a UN body, includes working sessions, visits to research centres and other collateral activities.
In Mundávila 2025, the hosts of the University of Ciego de Ávila «Máximo Gómez Báez» and their guests will be organisers, diplomats, artists, and protagonists of a diverse, critical and emancipatory academic and scientific space.
