This weekend’s results served to complete the eight teams that advanced to the quarter-final phase of the Little League Baseball 2025 National Tournament in the 9-10 and 11-12 age groups.

Under the competition system that awarded the ticket to the best team in three games, Santa Clara (VCL) defeated Cienfuegos 2-0 (11×0, 7×5), Matanzas defeated San José (6×4, 5×2), Bayamo (GRA) to Holguín (7×1, 16×0), Sancti Spíritus to Ciego de Ávila (5×1, 10×1) and Cerro (HAB) to Isla de la Juventud, with a pair of wins (14×0, 30×0).

Needing a third tie-breaker, Artemisa defeated Pinar del Río 10×6, Las Tunas 12×1 against Camagüey and Santiago de Cuba 8×1 against Guantánamo.

Roberto González Bonachea, national Little League methodologist, explained to JIT that next weekend’s quarter-final duels in the 9-10 age group will pit Cerro-Artemisa, Santa Clara-Matanzas, Sancti Spíritus-Las Tunas and Bayamo-Santiago de Cuba.

In the 11-12 age group, San Antonio (ART) beat Pinar del Río 2-0 (3×1 and 1×0), La Lisa (HAB) 2-1 (1×2, 4×1 and 8×2) against Isla de la Juventud and Matanzas 2-0 (5×1 and 14×0) against San José (MAY).

Bonachea also reported that Santa Clara (VCL) swept Cienfuegos (7×5 and 6×4), Sancti Spíritus (3×0 and 11×0) against Morón (CAV), Las Tunas (8×3 and 10×2) against Camagüey, Bayamo (GRA) versus Holguín (3×0 and 7×4) and Santiago de Cuba (10×0 and 7×3) against Guantánamo.

Next weekend’s matches in this category will have La Lisa-San Antonio, Santa Clara-Matanzas, Sancti Spíritus-Las Tunas and Bayamo-Santiago de Cuba as opponents.

The director pointed out that the winner of the 9-10 category will represent Cuba in a Latin American tournament, scheduled for July in Mexico, while the winner of the 11-12 category will attend a Caribbean qualifying tournament in Curaçao, in the same month, which will grant a place for the 2025 World Series.
