Every Saturday, the Provincial Council of Visual Arts in Ciego de Ávila becomes a meeting point for creation and learning thanks to the community project «Sueños» (Dreams), an initiative that for over ten years has contributed to the development of culture in the city.
Led by creator Plinio Rolando Sánchez, this space has been fundamental in the training of children, adolescents and young people, teaching them the art of drawing and fostering their creative sensitivity. Specialists consider that initiatives like this strengthen the community social fabric, bring art closer to the population, and offer educational alternatives outside the traditional school environment.
The project’s impact is reflected in its own fruits: several of its students have now become visual arts professionals, evidencing the effectiveness of this educational and cultural proposal.
With a well-established track record in the city, «Sueños» keeps its doors open to all those who wish to join and explore their talent under the guidance of this noble community programme. Cultural authorities have repeatedly highlighted the relevance of sustaining these spaces, considered pillars for the democratisation of culture and the integral development of Avilanian communities.
