The Russian Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Protection and Welfare (Rospotrebnadzor) informed today that several of its specialists will visit Cuba in order to be updated on tropical infections.
Rospotrebnadzor told the TASS news agency on Monday that the experts, together with their Cuban colleagues, will carry out a series of topical studies on diseases occurring in the Caribbean region.
The note specifies that the experts from the Slavic nation will visit the capital of the Caribbean nation from 5 to 8 August, in the context of Russian-Cuban cooperation in the field of ensuring the health and epidemiological well-being of the population.
Together with their Cuban colleagues, Rospotrebnadzor employees will conduct a series of studies of relevant infections, including Oropouche fever, the agency said.
Rospotrebnadzor specified that high-tech test systems developed by the agency will be used for the research.
The trip is expected to contribute to humanitarian cooperation between Moscow and Havana, as well as to global efforts to combat infections with epidemic potential.
