Scientists from the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of the Russian consumer protection office Rospotrebnadzor have developed reagents capable of detecting 25 viruses, the Sputnik news agency reported today.

According to the note published this Thursday, the reagent kit created by the Russian specialists is very effective and among the 25 different viruses it detects are flu and Covid-19, reported the press service of the entity.

Furthermore, the kit allows for the simultaneous detection of all important pathogens of acute viral respiratory infections, in particular, enteroviruses, adenoviruses, rhinoviruses, metapneumovirus, respiratory syncytial virus and bocavirus.

«This is the first test registered in Russia with such a broad range of diagnostics,» states the text, which underlines that the testing system is highly precise and allows doctors to make a diagnosis quickly and prescribe treatment.

All components of the test are produced in Russia, which excludes dependence on foreign supplies and makes diagnostics accessible to the population.
