Taking into account that the current meteorological conditions in the province of Guantánamo, after the passage of Tropical Storm Oscar, do not constitute a danger, it was decided to establish the recovery phase for the municipalities of Maisí, Baracoa, Imías and San Antonio del Sur as of 20:00 hours this Thursday.

According to the information note No.7 of the National Civil Defence Staff on Tropical Storm Oscar, the other municipalities of the province are returning to normal.

The management bodies are instructed to take into account the experiences acquired during the preparations and response to this event for the updating of the disaster risk reduction plans and the population to comply with the instructions given by the local authorities in a disciplined manner and not to commit recklessness that could put people’s lives at risk.

The note notes that it recognises the work of the provincial leadership and the discipline shown by the population in complying with the measures directed during the preparations and response to this event.
