Raíces Award given to the Provincial Historical Archive collective in Ciego de Ávila

After a year of supreme investigative management and documentary conservation, the José Ambrosio Gómez Cardoso Historical Archive collective in Ciego de Ávila received this Friday the Raíces Award, conferred by the Association of Cuban Pedagogues.

The event transcends as part of the activities that take place on the occasion of December 22, Educator’s Day, which links between the non-governmental organization and the cultural center, aim to bring to the knowledge of the people relevant actions that took place in local, national and beyond its borders.

With this prism, representatives of the Association of Combatants of the Cuban Revolution, in an emotional ceremony, made a donation to the Historical Archive of 1,639 photos of avilanian fighters, fallen in the fulfillment of their internationalist missions in Angola, Ethiopia and Nicaragua, whose remains were brought to the homeland in 1989 during the Tribute operation.

The presentation of the Raíces Award and the graphic material received by the workers of the Historical Archive of Ciego de Ávila, was attended, among other personalities, by the Member of the Provincial Bureau of the Party Yuslavi Borges, Ana Rosa Francisco Malde, Vice-coordinator at the same level, Ángel Cabrera Sánchez historian of the City of the Portals and Claudia Ruiz Alpizar, President of the Movimiento Juvenil Martiano (Martí’s Youth Movement) in this central region of the country.
