With the aim of stimulating through artistic, cultural and educational manifestations the formation of values and a conscious attitude in the rational use of energy carriers, as well as the protection and conservation of the environment, the Savings Program contest was convened of Energy of the Ministry of Education (MINED) «For the rational use of energy».
Sponsored by the National Office for the control of the Rational Use of Energy (Onure), The Electricity (Une), the José Martí Pioneers Organization (OPJM) and the MINED, pioneers, students and teachers of special, primary education and basic secondary can participate at the level of centers (February), municipalities (March) and provinces (May and June).
In the Ciego de Ávila contest, they competed in Poetry (first and second level; short story (first and second level); and in painting (first, second and third level); according to the lawyer Odelaisy García Caveda, institutional communicator of the Onure in this province.
The winning works were: in first level Poetry, the top place for the poem called Reina, by Katerine Cepero Borroto, a student at the Patricio Sierralta school and the second for «For the Rational use of Energy» by Sian Javier Reyes Burgos from the Aguedo Morales Reina school, both in the municipality of Ciego de Ávila. And the third for “Ahorra” by Glendy Figueredo Tamayo from the Jacinto Omar Rosado school, in the municipality of Primero de Enero.
Mentions were also granted for the untitled work by Alejandro Jesús González Pérez, from the Manuel Montaña López de Chambas school: and the named “Energy Saving” by Anaily Castellón Padrón from the República de Nicaragua school in the municipality of Primero de Enero.
The first two places in second-level poetry were empty, only mentions were awarded for “El medio Ambiente”, by Katherin Barrera Martínez, from the ESBU René Ramos, both from Ciego de Ávila; and the poetry of Lauret Díaz González, from the ESBU Manuel Montaña in the municipality of Chambas.
The genre of Story had works on both levels. In the first, “Un bombillo aturdido” by Nicole Fazio Rodríguez, from the General Antonio elementary school in the municipality of Ciego de Ávila, reached first place. There was also a shared third place for “A Good Choice” by Eridianni Cabrera Cardoso from the Manuel Montaña school in the municipality of Chambas; and «Importance of saving» also by Nicole Fazio Rodríguez.
The awarded stories in the second level were, with the first place “Consequence” by Liliana Pereira Valdivia; and a third for «Let’s think of a better future» by Kevin de la Paz Pérez, both from the Julio Antonio Mella secondary school in the municipality of Ciego de Ávila.
The Painting demonstration achieved two first places for Yasdiel Aguedo Leyva, in the first level; in the second for Leo Martínez Aguilera, both from the Tomas Palmero center in the municipality of Chambas; and in the third, Ronal Gómez Hernández from the República de Nicaragua school in the municipality of Primero de Enero.
