The hotel facilities that form part of the Jardines del Rey tourist destination show persevering work in terms of caring for the ecosystems where they are located, with the aim of achieving the construction of tourism in harmony with the environment and, with this, the environmental recognition that endorses its sustainability.
This is the opinion of specialists from the provincial delegation of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment in the province of Ciego de Avila, who explained that several hotels already have territorial recognition thanks to their sustained work aimed at the implementation of the Tarea Vida.
Among the hotels that have made the most progress in this regard are the Meliá Cayo Coco, the Iberostar Playa Pilar and the Hotel Pulman Cayo Coco, the latter with the added value of also having the Planet XXI programme, conceived by the Accor group, whose aim is to achieve a higher level of awareness regarding the protection of nature among workers and clients.
The rich biodiversity of the northern keys of Avila has been affected in the last 30 years due to the tourist development in the area, however, safe steps are already being taken for its recovery, a task on which the future of tourism in Cuba depends a lot.
