A round table between peace signatories and delegates from the National Government will be set up today in the Colombian capital with the aim of establishing agreements to respond to the requirements of the demobilised combatants.
During the meeting, interventions are expected to focus on the ex-guerrilla members’ requests related to their security, access to land and housing, as well as other issues associated with their social reincorporation.
Néstor Bruges, an advisor to the Interior Ministry, told RCN Radio that the meeting will also be attended by representatives of organisations linked to the list of demands.
«We managed to organise the issues, identify which are the responsibility of the territorial entities and which are the responsibility of the national government,» he said.
For his part, Gustavo Bocanegra, the spokesperson for the peace signatories in the department of Tolima, in the centre-west of the country, described the creation of the space for dialogue as important and hoped that it would flow in order for the roundtable to succeed.
Demobilised members of the now-defunct Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia-People’s Army (FARC-EP) guerrilla group yesterday blocked a highway in the centre of the country to demand that the government speed up the implementation of the 2016 peace agreement.
The ex-guerrillas requested a meeting with government representatives in order to draw up a plan for the resolution of their grievances, especially those related to reincorporation and projects that will allow them to rejoin society.
