The official opening ceremony of the Cuban embassy in the Republic of Korea took place in Seoul on Tuesday.
The director of Asia and Oceania of the Minrex, Ariel Lorenzo Rodriguez, stressed the importance of the work of the respective diplomatic missions in Havana and the South Korean capital as a way to develop and strengthen relations of friendship and cooperation for mutual benefit.
The activity was also attended by the Director General for Latin America and the Caribbean of the South Korean Foreign Ministry, Lee Jooil; the Cuban Ambassador to South Korea, Claudio Monzón Baeza, and representatives of various government institutions, sectors linked to Cuba and members of the Latin American diplomatic corps.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Cuban ambassador stressed that there is potential for increasing bilateral ties in different spheres, fundamentally in the economic, commercial and investment sectors, as well as in cultural and sporting exchanges.
Diplomatic and consular relations between the two nations were established on February 14, 2024, through an exchange of diplomatic notes between the respective permanent representations to the United Nations in New York.
