New political training cycle begins in Ciego de Ávila

A new training cycle for the cadre reserve of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), the Union of Young Communists (UJC), the Committees for the Defence of the Revolution (CDR) and other mass organisations has begun at the “Mártires de Bolivia” Party Faculty in Ciego de Ávila.

With more than 40 students enrolled and a programme that will extend for 10 weeks, this course will focus on developing the necessary competences and qualities for cadres, as well as studying the particularities of the Cuban political system and the economic, political and social strategy of the Party and the Cuban Revolution, among other relevant topics.

At the inaugural act, the students were received on behalf of the leadership, the teaching body and the personnel of the institution, in the presence of members of the provincial bureau of the Party, first secretaries of the municipal committees, officials from the provincial structures, central cadres of the UJC and other mass organisations, all headed by Nexy Véliz Naranjo, member of the provincial bureau of the PCC in Ciego de Ávila.

In words of welcome, Eduardo Díaz Guerra, member of the Provincial Committee of the PCC and dean of the Party Faculty, highlighted that the training of future leaders will combine theoretical contents with practical activities, with the objective of confronting the complex challenges presented by society and the revolutionary process at present.

“In this year in which we commemorate the centenary of the birth of our Commander in Chief and the 49th anniversary of the system of party schools as centres of revolutionary instruction, as well as on the eve of the national congress of Cuban workers and the IX Congress of the Party planned for April of next year, we have sufficient reasons to make this course a benchmark, forming in our classrooms leaders capable of assuming the future of the Revolution,” he affirmed.

The training of those who participate in the political direction of Cuban society acquires a special relevance in the current context, marked by growing ideological subversion, economic challenges and the rapid advance of information and communication technologies. This demands comprehensive preparation so that cadres can carry out their work with efficacy.

In his closing words, Díaz Guerra underlined that beginning this course to become political cadres and public servants is an honour that translates into the slogan “I am Fidel”. He affirmed that, despite the discipline, commitment and ideological firmness expected of revolutionary cadres, upon concluding the course they will have adequate, although basic, preparation to confront this titanic task in the current circumstances of the country.

As expressed by Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the PCC and President of the Republic, at the closing of the 8th Plenum of the Central Committee on 6th July 2024: “… The Party and its cadres have the mission to stimulate, inspire, mobilise and commit their militants and the people, conscious that only the ideal that involves us all triumphs…”.
