New form of petrol sales begins at all service stations in the country

Irenaldo Pérez Cardoso, deputy director of the Cuba-Petróleo Union (Cupet) and Ernesto Martínez Hernández, first vice-president of the Cimex corporation, gave details this morning in the magazine Buenos Días about the sale of special gasoline and the new measures implemented in Cuba,
due to the shortage of this type of fuel.

Pérez Cardoso explained that, as a result of the current situation of special gasoline, which is in deficit in the country, it has been decided to guarantee the network of service stations in USD, based on national production.

In addition, he reiterated that the export of this product is «a real problem due to the entry of US President Donald Trump. Therefore, the responsibility of our organisation is the production of these gasolines».

He also said that regular petrol will be consumed. «The plan we have during the day is to distribute 900 tonnes of regular and motor gasoline».

On the measures adopted by the Cimex corporation for the dispensing of special gasoline, Martínez Hernández commented that tonight, at midnight, a group of actions will be carried out that will allow the state sector’s gasoline cards to supply the purchase of regular service.

He clarified that the private sector is not affected by these measures, as its card has access to all types of fuels.
