The Territorial Division of Radiocuba in Ciego de Ávila hosted this November 1st the start in Ciego de Ávila of the National Day on Safety and Health at Work, which this year takes place under the motto “Safe and healthy environment, fundamental right and principle at work».

The staff of the center deserved the Safety and Health Work Star, issued by the Central Workers of Cuba, and the status of a ready and safe Center, in addition to meeting the requirements established in that area, results that support its selection.

Chaired by the Central Workers of Cuba and the Directorate of Labor, the conference will make it possible to learn about progress and existing deficiencies in the business, private and budget sectors.

Among the objectives that will mark the stage are promoting actions for the prevention of work accidents and occupational diseases, and promoting awareness about the need to comply with established safety standards and maintain safe and hygienic conditions in each work area.

In this period, it is also intended to make people aware about new trends in the field of safety and health at work, as well as the magnitude of injuries, illnesses and deaths related to work activity.

Niurka Ferrer Castillo, general secretary of the Cuban Workers’ Union in the province of Ciego de Ávila, reported that drivers with no traffic accidents, voluntary blood donors, and organizations and centers that stand out in this task will be awarded.

The event, held every year, contributes to declaring accident-free centers and increasing knowledge about the importance of properly applying safety and protection measures in work groups.
