The National Electricity System is operating in a stable manner after the total interconnection, informed the engineer Félix Estrada Rodríguez, director of the National Load Dispatch.
Speaking on the television programme Mesa Redonda, Estrada Rodríguez stated that unit 1 of the Ernesto Guevara thermoelectric power plant (CTE) in Santa Cruz del Norte, which had not been able to reconnect due to low water levels as a result of an automatic failure, had been synchronised.
He explained that unit 6 of the Máximo Gómez CTE, in Mariel, was in the process of starting up and could be synchronised, which would bring its three blocks online.
In the case of the Antonio Guiteras unit block in Matanzas, he said it was generating 220 megawatts (mw) in a stable manner. The Mariel and Havana blocks were also online, he said.
Energás Boca de Jaruco kept its units working, except for one, which had difficulties in reconnecting, although it would start up again, he said. Energás Varadero was generating steadily and regulating power, he said.
CTE Diez de Octubre, in Nuevitas, had its two units online, as well as unit 1 of cte Lidio Ramón Pérez, in Felton, and unit 3 of cte Antonio Maceo, in Santiago de Cuba, while its machine 6 was in the process of starting up.
Estrada Rodríguez said that the availability of generation remains between 1,900 and 1,950 mw, with a peak hour effect of more than 1,300 mw.
As planned, the incorporation of new photovoltaic solar parks will gradually add power. The first two synchronised ones are already contributing 21.8 megawatts (mw) each, and in the remainder of March, another six with the same generation capacity will contribute some 130 mw more.
