At around 13:30 local time on Wednesday, the Israeli enemy carried out an aerial attack from the area of al-Tanef, which is occupied by US forces in eastern Syria, the Defence Ministry announced in a statement.
It added that the bombing also caused extensive material damage to the targeted buildings and their surroundings. Palmyra, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1980, was twice occupied by Daesh terrorists, then liberated by the Syrian army with the support of Russian forces in 2016.
Tel Aviv intensified its military actions against targets on Syrian territory, with more than 130 attacks in almost a year, resulting in at least 120 deaths and extensive material damage.
The most recent attack on Thursday targeted the capital’s residential neighbourhood of Mezzeh and the suburb of Qudseya near Damascus, killing 19 people and injuring 16 others, mostly women and children.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday 13 of this month, the Israeli army destroyed three bridges and several roads in the Syrian municipality of Qusair, bordering Lebanon.
The Syrian government has repeatedly called for united efforts to stop the war crimes and genocide committed by Israel against the states and peoples of the region.
