The Ministry of Labour and Social Security (MTSS) today recalled, highlighting the figure of multiple employment, that this occurs when a person maintains subordinate relationships with more than one employer, which implies the signing of several employment contracts.
The entity specified that in each contractual relationship the worker is subject to the general social security regime, so the law establishes strict conditions to guarantee its viability.
Among these provisions is that the tasks of one job do not interfere with the obligations of the other, and that the new employer previously informs the original one of the situation to avoid overloads.
The MTSS stressed on Facebook that the hours agreed in face-to-face jobs cannot coincide under any circumstance, and that holidays must be coordinated by mutual agreement to ensure real rest.
It noted that although multiple employment constitutes a right, the Labour Code sets limits with the purpose of protecting workers’ health and preserving professional ethics.
