Melany and Mariset: Shared Values

Melany knows that time is precious to her mommy. She also understands that maternal love is worth a fortune, so she waits up late for her to tuck her in, give her a kiss and wish her goodnight.

«Although I always make the time to talk with my little girl, play with her and attend to her educational needs, especially school activities, so much responsibility limits my stay at home these days, for that I count on the help of my mom and my husband,» says Mariset Hernández Rodríguez, member of the Provincial Secretariat of the Workers’ Central of Cuba in Ciego de Ávila.

At 32 years of age, she has the task of being today the president of the Provincial Candidacy Commission, which shows the peculiarity of being led by women this body and the 10 at the municipal level.

«Taking office was very exciting, it was an honor and a great commitment for me, because in previous electoral processes I performed similar functions in the municipalities of Chambas and Ciego de Ávila, but the one that happens today requires greater preparation in accordance with Law 127.

«In our province, the plenary sessions of the mass and student organizations are being held, two of them in the universities, to elect the pre-candidates for deputies to the National Assembly of People’s Power; the CTC’s will be held on the 15th.

«In this process until December 20, it is ensured that those selected meet the conditions of capacity, merit, moral authority, popular acceptance and be representative of the different sectors and activities.

«Another important step of the candidacy commissions corresponds to the preparation of the inauguration of the Municipal Government Assemblies, scheduled for December 17, all over the country».

The young mother considers to have as another unconditional family that of the avilanian  union movement, not only in relation to the support to Melany’s education, but also in her formation as a student of the Master’s Degree in Sociopolitical Sciences.
