The objective of the management and command bodies at all levels in the municipality of Majagua, which will take part this weekend in the Meteoro 2024 exercise, is to strengthen the capacities to face natural, technological and sanitary disasters.

The above was specified by the Head of the Civil Defense in this territory, Liannys Pintado Benítez, who informed that in the case of Saturday 19, the day will be dedicated to the study of the approved guiding documents and the updating of the risk reduction plans.

Among the vulnerabilities located in this municipality in the southwest of the province are the Majagua, Guayacanes and Guamajales rivers, which, in the presence of heavy rains, tend to rise and thus hinder the crossing of vehicles and people from one area to another.

On Sunday, May 19, explained the source, that forces and means will be in function of executing practical activities with the objective of reducing dangers throughout the territory, in defense zones, communities, companies and entities.

Also in this area, it was recalled that the cyclonic season, which starts on June 1 and lasts until November 30, is expected to be very active with some 20 phenomena in the North Atlantic basin.

The closing in this territory of Meteoro 2024 will take place in areas of the local cannery.
