Longina sings to Corona once again in Villa Clara

Dedicated to the 40 years of existence of El Mejunje and the imprint of singer-songwriter Pablo Milanés, the XXVIII edition of the National Meeting of Troubadours Longina Canta a Corona will be held in Villa Clara from January 11 to 14, 2024.

Adrián Berazaín, Marta Campos, Gerardo Alfonso, Ariel Barreiro, William Vivanco, Erick Sánchez, Inti Santana, as well as other artists of the country will appear as guests to accompany the consecrated of the patio.

At a press conference, Elizabeth Casanova Castillo, president of the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS) in the territory, said that the event, in addition to the usual concerts, includes spaces for theoretical reflection, led by music critics Joaquín Borges Triana and Yorisel Andino Castillo.

A photographic exhibition by Andrés Castellanos, entitled «Sedimentos», and the screening of the documentary Santa canción, by Juan Carlos Travieso and dedicated to the Longina, are also expected to be shown at the AHS Portico Gallery.

This year, the Venezuelan troubadour José Alejandro Delgado will be present, who, together with Roly Berrío, will participate in a peña planned for January 14 at 6:00 p.m. at the Museum of Decorative Arts of the provincial capital city, he said.

Among the novelties announced, he mentioned the participation of the audiovisual project Trovanueva to record young voices, and the production team of the television musical program Entre manos, whose materials will be premiered on Cubavisión channel.

In addition to the presentations in Santa Clara -in venues such as El Mejunje, the AHS and the cultural center La Luna Naranja-, the cultural program will be extended to municipalities such as Camajuaní, Remedios, Santo Domingo, Sagua la Grande, Quemado de Güines and Manicaragua, said Yatsel Rodríguez González, member of the organizing committee of the meeting.

As usual, he confirmed, a pilgrimage to the tomb of Manuel Corona will be held in Caibarién on January 9 to commemorate the 74th anniversary of his death and a commemorative plaque will be unveiled at his birthplace, while in the evening a concert by Trovuntivitis is planned at the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba in the northern town.
