The competition will be held in Nicaragua from 23 to 31 January 2025.
The Cuban Baseball Softball Federation (FCBS) confirmed today that it will be the team from Las Tunas, national champion, its representative in the first Baseball Series of the Americas, scheduled for January 23-31 in Nicaragua.
This was told to JIT by FCBS president Juan Reinaldo Pérez Pardo, also vice-president of the Baseball Association of the Americas (ABAM), who also pointed out that the Leñadores team had been told a long time ago to start training to arrive in good condition for the tournament.
The debut of the team coached by Abeisis Pantoja will be on 24 January against hosts Nicaragua at the Roberto Clemente Stadium in Masaya.
And from the 25th they will face Panama, Curaçao, Colombia and Argentina, in that order.
On the 29th they will play the cross semifinal and the following day the medals will be discussed.
The event will take place in the stadiums of Managua, Masaya and León, where there is a growing interest in holding this first series.
The Series of the Americas is an event organised by the recently created ABAM, an entity that brings together Cuba, Argentina, Nicaragua, Curaçao, Colombia, Nicaragua and Panama.
The ABAM came about as a response to several countries not inviting their teams to the Caribbean Series. The aim is to foster strong unions between the nations of the region and to organise events for the development of the sport.
The Cuban federation also explained that Las Tunas has secured its ticket to the second Champions League of the Americas, to be held in Mexico from 8 to 13 April next year.
