«La Reina», a cosy space in the south of Ciego de Avila

La Reina began as a dream for Jesús Mendoza Moreno, a mechanical engineer by profession, and today it is part of a project that is materialising, for the enjoyment of the inhabitants of the coastal community of Júcaro and beyond, with significant results for this family that strives every day.

Among many of Jesús’ ideas, «La Reina» was born and has become one of the most attractive spaces in this territory in the south of the province of Avila, where the message of taking care of our environment is transmitted while enjoying delicious local dishes and drinks and other cultural recreational activities.

The project began by restoring some spaces that already existed, starting with the bar, then extended to the tables, then other ideas were shared to enrich the place and make it more welcoming, they painted the tent, trying to do everything with good taste, to become what it is today, a space where visitors enjoy tasty drinks, fish calenticos, amburguesas, pork sandwiches and other proposals.

La Reina was inaugurated on February 14, 2024, where excellence is sought so that the customer feels satisfied. With much still to achieve, it intends to grow with various initiatives for different age groups, with surprises, according to this young entrepreneur with a lot of modesty and love for what he does.

At the moment they are trying to materialise an idea with a boat, which they are applying for, _ It is worth the risk, Jesús told me, and he said that, once approved and fitted out, it will undoubtedly be one of the major attractions of this integrating project.

At the moment there are 12 workers in this space that will also serve to learn more about the beauty of the «Jardines de la Reina», its rich history and culture, not only for the locals who visit the place but also for people from different parts of the world who come as tourists to the National Park, located very close to the place.

This enterprising young father of two children and husband of meteorology technician Dayamy Fernández Basulto, likes to let the results speak for themselves, but he continues to dream with the certainty that in La Reina he will achieve great things for his own benefit and very importantly, he said, to contribute to a beautiful image of those who visit this place in the south of Cuba.
