The Children’s Theatre Company «La Colmenita» offered its art in the capital to the delegations that will represent Cuba at the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris 2024.
In the theatre of the National Museum of Fine Arts, an afternoon full of emotions was experienced, in which the joy and enjoyment of each of the participants, who witnessed and applauded the talent of the colmeneros, was not lacking.
The evening, in which there was artistic beauty and excellent performances, once again demonstrated that 34 years after its founder Carlos Alberto «Tin» Cremata Malberti, the company continues to exude passion and heart in its presentations.
Performances of La Cucarachita M onartina and the tooth fairy, boxing simulations, dances and songs enlivened the day.
And of course, good Cuban music with a medley by Los Van Van from the 70s, which got the audience dancing, as well as the song «El toca toca toca».
At the end, the members of La Colmenita greeted the athletes, coaches and sporting glories, who were very pleased with the performance.
Among those present were some of the 62 Cuban athletes who have qualified for the upcoming summer event in the French capital, to be held from 26 July to 11 August, as well as the highest authorities of the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (Inder).
Not all the athletes took part because some of them are in training bases outside the country, in order to arrive in optimal conditions for this demanding competition.
One of the delegation’s flag-bearers, Greco-Roman wrestling legend Mijaín López, winner of four titles in the five rings, was present at the emotional activity.
Judo star Idalis Ortiz, winner of four medals at this level, with one gold, two silver and one bronze, who will be the other standard bearer, is preparing in France.
Also enjoying «La Colmenita» were sprinter Omara Durand and long jumper Robiel Yanquiel Sol, who will carry the Lone Star flag at the opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games in Paris.
The delegations of the Caribbean nation were flagged off this Tuesday morning at the José Martí Memorial in the Plaza de la Revolución, in an activity led by Miguel Díaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, and Prime Minister Manuel Marrero.
