press professionals from Cuba and Vietnam will discuss here today experiences in media management, as part of a visit to the island by a delegation of journalists from the Asian country.
Almost a dozen presentations by journalists, managers and academics from both countries will be presented at the headquarters of the union of Cuban journalists (upec) in this capital, during the Vietnam-Cuba seminar: socialist press in transformation, according to the organisers.
The meeting with 15 members of the Vietnam Journalists Association (VPA), led by its vice-president Tran Troug Dung, also aims to strengthen inter-union ties, said his UPEC counterpart, Bolivia Tamara Cruz.
According to the source, the academic programme will begin with the presentation of papers by the Antillean side.
Rosa Miriam Elizalde, the general coordinator of the Patria International Colloquium, will speak on Cuba: a networked society in the face of a media war. Communication as a strategic resource in Cuba and the Law on Social Communication will be addressed by the Vice-President of the Institute of Information and Social Communication, Onelio Castillo.
For his part, the president of UPEC, Ricardo Ronquillo, will discuss the transformations of the press model in the Caribbean country. On the Vietnamese side, the head of the Academy of Journalism and Communication, Nguyen Ngoc Oanh, will address the topic: The foreign press and international communication in the digital era when Vietnam’s «bamboo diplomacy» strategy is being implemented.
Meanwhile, journalist and Editor-in-Chief of Toui Tre newspaper, Le Xuan Trung, will present his thoughts on the application of artificial intelligence in content development and editorial management.
In addition, Ta Bich Loan from VTV will talk about digital transformation in the press, self-financing, business models, advertising revenue generation: implementation methods, achievements and issues raised at Vietnam National Television.
Forum attendees will exchange ideas with academics Thi Thu Hang and Ta Thi Bich Loan after their presentation Journalistic process and skills to handle false, distorted and harmful information to protect sovereignty in cyberspace.
To close the exhibition space, Ta Thi Bích will present The Economics of Press and Media: Advertising Production and Management of Press Economic Activities.
The stay here until the 7th allowed the APV professionals to meet with colleagues from the Girón newspaper, TV Yumurí and Radio 26 in the western province of Matanzas, some 100 kilometres east of Havana, before visiting the tourist resort of Varadero.
