Until February 24, a total of 199 teachers from the different schools in Ciego de Ávila will receive in their homes the Jewel of Pedagogy distinction, the highest award from the Avilanian branch of the Cuban Association of Pedagogues.
The consecration to the teaching profession and the contributions to the educational work constitute the main merits to be considered to reward those who stand out for their selfless work in the formation of the new generations.
Argelio Rodríguez Gazapo, President of the Ciego de Ávila branch of the Association of Cuban Pedagogues, explained that this year’s distinction honors the 170th anniversary of the birth of José Martí, a virtuous example of love and dedication to Pedagogy.
The tribute to the Jewels of Avilaian Pedagogy includes the placement of a distinctive plaque in the place of residence itself as a way of giving prestige to teaching and the vocation for teaching.
