Injured in accident in Cuban province recovering

After the traffic accident that occurred the day before in the vicinity of Santa Cruz del Sur, in the province of Camagüey, the patients referred to the Provincial Hospital in this city are progressing in their recovery.

Near kilometre 71 of the road to this southern municipality of the country’s largest territory, a passenger lorry went off the road, in an accident that left one man dead, Ramón Chávez, a resident of Jacinto González, in this locality.

Speaking to the local press, Rodolfo Domínguez, director of the Manuel Ascunce Provincial Hospital, where several of those involved were taken, reported that «the main injuries, fractures of the upper and lower limbs, have been monitored».

«So far they have not required surgery or progressive care in our institution, some of the patients will be under surgical surveillance for simple thoracic and abdominal traumas, which are not life-threatening for the patient,» said the doctor.

Meanwhile, at the Eduardo Agramonte Piña Paediatric Hospital, some twenty minors are also recovering, while another 15 patients with minor injuries remain in hospitals in Santa Cruz del Sur.

After the unfortunate mishap, government authorities arrived at the site and kept abreast of the deployment of infrastructure to guarantee medical services to those involved, who have also received massive popular support through blood donations.
