Infant mortality decreases at Morón Hospital

The infant mortality rate experienced a reduction at the end of 2023 at the Roberto Rodriguez General Teaching Hospital in the city of Moron, Avileña, reporting only 3.1 in children under one year of age.

The figure shows a decrease concerning the previous year when the mortality rate was 3.8, which shows the professional dedication of Neonatologists, Obstetricians, Pediatric Intensivists, and the Primary Health Care team.

Doctor Yoenki Tapia Válido, director of this health care center, declared that despite the current complexities, the Maternal and Infant Program follow-up was a priority. This success is part of the commitments of the collective in honor of the 65th anniversary of the Revolution.

The province of Holguín, in eastern Cuba, closed in 2023 with an infant mortality rate of 4.7 per 1,000 live births, the third lowest in the largest Antillean Island, after Pinar del Río and Artemisa.(Leonel Iparraguirre González)
