Indignation of the Venezuelan People Over Trump’s Statement

The member of the Political Bureau of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) Diosdado Cabello highlighted the indignation of the Venezuelan people, following what he called the delirious statement of US imperialism.

During his Wednesday night programme Con el Mazo Dando, the general secretary of the PSUV emphasised that the statement by the President of the United States, Donald Trump, on Tuesday night, «provoked indignation among Chavistas and non-Chavistas alike.»

Among people, he said, who are associated with companies and those on the streets, public and private workers, women and men, young and old.

He stressed that this indignation responds to the offensive that they, the Americans, «have been accelerating for 17 weeks and aimed their cannons at Venezuela, in a war and psychological terrorism against the people only to steal our oil, it is nothing else,» he affirmed.

The Venezuelan political leader branded as aberrant the pronouncements of the head of the White House in wanting to appropriate oil, assets and other natural resources, with which the true intention of imperialism to seize Venezuela’s wealth was made evident.

«What Venezuela is stealing land from the United States? What Venezuela is stealing oil and other assets? For God’s sake! Review history, Mr. President,» Cabello stated.

In the opinion of the PSUV leader, with Trump’s statements it became clear that the attacks against Venezuela do not respond to reasons such as the Aragua Train, democracy, dictatorship, terrorism or the Cartel of the Suns, but to interest in the nation’s wealth.

The Minister for Interior Relations, Justice and Peace reflected that whoever threatens the Venezuelan people in this way by wanting to take away their oil «does not know the Venezuelan people, not a drop.»

He assured that «not a drop will leave here if the United States aggresses the people of Venezuela, not half a drop, under any circumstances,» he reaffirmed.

The day before, the state company Petróleos de Venezuela reaffirmed its commitment to the defence of the country’s energy sovereignty and will continue advancing, alongside the Venezuelan people, on the path of recovery, strengthening and the unrestricted defence of the national oil industry.

In a message sent to the workers of that sector, Cabello stated: «not a drop, comrades of the oil company, not a drop, not half a drop by force, you know what I am telling you, not anything standing by that allows a drop of our oil to be taken out because that resource belongs to Venezuelans.»
