With a profit that surpasses 70 thousand pesos, the workers of the transport sector in Ciego de Ávila end 2022 with the imperative of strengthening the Socialist State Enterprise in this year that has just begun, this was announced by Manuel Marín Torres, General Director of the Transport Enterprise in this central province of Cuba.
«It has been a difficult year where, in addition to the lack of spare parts and components, mainly tires and batteries, the limitations with physical fuel and the gradual deterioration of the equipment fleet had a negative impact on the fulfillment of important indicators».
Marín Torres argued that the technical availability coefficient remained between 35 and 38 percent, in the case of buses, and between 40 and 50 percent in the case of cargo trucks.
In this sense, he said that more than 170 thousand tons of merchandise was transported with the assurance of the basic food basket in all the municipalities of the territory, with fuel indicators in correspondence with the transported load.
When referring to passenger transportation, he explained that this important service is not being maintained, a situation that causes that, from a plan of income of 136 million pesos, an estimated 82 million pesos is achieved.
«Although they do not comply with the proposed income plan, we have worked in a sustained manner to maintain basic services such as the transportation of oncology patients, medical shifts and support to the anti-vectorial campaign».
The executive stressed that the year 2022 had a negative impact on this important sector of the country’s economy, in spite of implementing strategies aimed at new forms of income, with the imperative of strengthening the Socialist State Enterprise in the year 2023.
