In good hands, the soil is fertile (+ Video)

Díaz-Canel presided over the award ceremony of the National Small Farmers’ Association

Recognising those who, in the face of the innumerable challenges facing the Cuban peasantry, continue in the noble task of producing food and contributing to the country’s development, was the purpose of the national ceremony of decorations of the National Association of Small Farmers (ANAP), held on Monday.

In the Cubanacán Hall, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and President of the Republic, awarded the honorary title of Hero of Labour of the Republic of Cuba to José Alberto González Sánchez, president of the agricultural production cooperative Paquito González, from Baraguá, Ciego de Ávila.

In the presence of Political Bureau member Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organisation of the Central Committee, 40 ANAP cadres and associates were awarded the Romárico Cordero medal; 150 received the Antero Regalado distinction; another 150 received the José Ramírez Cruz special seal, and 58 comrades were awarded the status of outstanding cadres.

On 17 May next, it will be 65 years since the signing of the Agrarian Reform Law by Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, and 63 years since the creation of the ANAP.

The event was also attended by the Commander of the Rebel Army José Ramón Machado Ventura; Félix Duarte Ortega, president of the peasant organisation, as well as other members of the Political Bureau and the Secretariat of the Central Committee, and leaders of the political and mass organisations.
