The University of Medical Sciences Doctor José Assef Yara, in Ciego de Ávila, held the opening ceremony and creation of the Honorary Chair «One Health» which bears the name of the prestigious professor Felipe Aragón Rojas.
This chair, directed by Dr. Judith Hernández Valdés, has the objective of «balancing and optimising the health of people, animals and ecosystems that is applied holistically», according to its protocol.
Its task is investigative and its premise is to solve the health problems of the communities in the territory of Avila, which will be of great support to the health care work of the medical institutions.
The Honorary Chair «One Health» bears the name of Felipe Aragón Rojas, for having been a paradigm of Cuban medicine, who treasured a wealth of experience in management tasks at different levels and served for 20 years as Provincial Director of Health in Ciego de Avila.
In addition, he successfully completed 27 international missions, in which he raised the island’s health services and the altruistic sense of Cuban medicine to the highest level.
