The Industriales team won and took advantage of the defeat of the Ciego de Avila team.

The victory of Leones de Industriales and the failure of Tigres de Ciego de Avila led to a tie between the two teams on Sunday at the top of the III Elite Cuban Baseball League, which closed its second private sub-series.

At the Estadio Latinoamericano, the team led by Guillermo Carmona beat Granma 11×1 in seven innings, supported by a 15-hit offensive -with six extra bases-, including a home run by Alfredo Echevarría, who went 4-2 with four runs.

Dennis Laza and Alfredo Rodríguez each hit three for the blue cause.

Victory for Yadián Martínez, who threw a complete game with four hits and no walks. Left-hander Yunier Castillo lost.

Industriales’ win was combined with Ciego de Ávila’s 3×4 loss to Pinar del Río, which snapped a six-game winning streak.

Visiting the José Ramón Cepero Park, Alexander Urquiola’s Vegueros were down 2×3 on the scoreboard in the eighth act. But Luis Pablo Acosta hit a home run with a man on base off reliever Yankiel Mauris and drove in the two runs for the win.

Yan Carlos García got the win and experienced closer José Ángel García was credited with the game-saving run.

Finally, Las Tunas made a spectacular comeback and beat Santiago de Cuba 12×5 at their Estadio Julio Antonio Mella.

The Lumberjacks appealed to their main weapon and hit four homers, two by Rafael Viñales and one apiece by Yunier Rondón and Yordanis Alarcón.

Abeyci Pantoja’s team was trailing 0x5 in the fourth inning, in which they scored a decisive six runs. Rodolfo Díaz, the reliever and eventual winner was in charge of maintaining the lead. He worked 3.2 immaculate innings, with three strikeouts and no walks.

After these results, Industriales and Ciego de Avila led the way with six wins and two losses, followed by Las Tunas (4-4). They are followed by Santiago de Cuba Granma (3-5) and Pinar del Río (2-6).
